LliureX distribution
LliureX distribution focuses mainly on deployment and use facility and it is intended to be adapted to the needs of the Valencia education system. It includes all the necessary software to take the most advantage of the PC. Among its applications, it is worth mentioning the text processor, the spreadsheet, the e-mail client, the Web browser, image management software, multimedia reproducers and a wide range of educational software to support the teaching task.

LliureX Classroom Model

LliureX develops a Classroom Model which is adapted to the real needs of the educative institutions. This Classroom Model assumes different user profiles to be used in the classroom serving several purposes. It either allows for simultaneous coexistence of Pcs running on different modes. Thus, the classroom model assumes that there is a classroom server for all the students which will provide all the necessary services for all the computers connected to the same local area network.

Clients shall be run in two modes:

• As a thin client which requires all processing to be carried out on the server. Because the thin client is relatively passive and low-maintenance, it allows the cost-effective reuse of older, less powerful computers.
• As a workstation allowing autonomous action for each computer once the user is identified and uploaded files saved on the server side. Each user has independent utilization of the operating system.

In any case, the centralized data management eases the task of classroom administration. Both modes can be simultaneously run in the different computers in the classroom in a way that is transparent to users. The Classroom Server allows quick replacement or repair through reinstalling a fresh copy of the operating system.
LliureX Live-CD/DVD
LliureX Live-CD/DVD allows running the distribution on the computer without previously installing it or modifying configuration and data files. It also allows Internet access and secure application performance.
LliureX "Workstation"
For an autonomous computer (either at home or at the office), install CD /DVD which allows using LliureX with other operating systems.
