Lliurex in the classroom

Up to now, LliureX has been deployed on 500 schools all through the Valencian region according to the established classroom model. For the academic year 2007/08, a progressive deployment is due to be carried out in other elementary and secondary Valencian schools.

Those schools which decide to install LliureX classroom model on their own will be further provided with an installation guide through this portal web. In such a case, the system support will be available via Web.

The different LliureX classroom profiles are as follows:

Classroom server

The classroom server will provide different services to clients such as network configuration, web access, data storage, backup, application server for thin clients and so on.

Net workstation

PC starts up using an operating system installed on the hard disk and makes use of the server to get the configuration data (IP addresses, user data, DNS,..) and to have access to the users space, it means, to their work directories..

Thin client

PC runs a minimum system start-up and graphic session is started in the server The client is basically a graphic terminal and all significant processing occurs on the server.

This way, thin clients will only be replaced when lacking some feature deemed essential.

Independent Working Station

The PC starts up a local operating system so it does not use either the network or the server. In fact, this mode would be used in case of not having a server.
