TCOS is an open source project which provides an integrated system of thin clients allowing control over both thin and thick clients. The project has been developed in Spain and it won the 1st University Competition of Free Software in 2007.
TCOS is a LliureX-based micro operating system which is served through PXE protocol for terminals with low resources which are started from network and connected to the server's graphic entourage where applications are held and run.
LliureX has actively participated in the development of this project. Among some of the input, it is important to point out features related to remote control of thin and class clients, audio visual multimedia support and USB extreme drives for thin clients. Needs to be metioned as well the customization and fitting to the needs of the teachers at all levels all around the Valencian region.
The new LliureX release will include the TCOSMonitor as a teacher management tool to control and allow to do actions on one or all thin clients like block/unblock Internet connection, reboot/poweroff thinc lients, send text and multimedia files and so many other implemented actions that facilitate the teaching-learnig process.
